Project Procrastinator

I have hit a creative block and have so many half started art and craft projects. The kitchen table, my only real work space is once again filled with cans, jars, bottles, glue, glitter, twigs, and photos, paper....you get the idea. It's one big cluster of chaos. I am distracted. I have the time now, more than I ever have in my life because of this sick leave. But I need a paying job and my thoughts keep drifting to that. On the up side, I have learned to live on so much less as I have had to do many times in the past. I have also been baking a lot and made a delicious butter cake with dark chocolate icing.
The projects I have completed are some old book page candle holders some with wires for hanging and some without, an Epsom salt hanging votive and some little felt birds and a collaged quote can. I will post some photos of them.
Many times I just overthink my crafts because I am so self critical. I need to just sit at that table when an idea strikes and keep working on it until its completed. I am trying to stay focused to what I can control and not waste my time worrying or being distracted by what I cannot control.

Spring Is Here

What a strange winter we just left....one day hot, one day freezing cold, one day rainy, one day dry. You know, it was pretty much nation wide with crazy tornadoes, flooding, blizzards and then complete Jekyll/Hyde like weather from one day to the next!
Here, in North Carolina it has been hot in the 70's to the 80's with intermittent rain in the afternoon and foggy mornings. When I moved here 9 months ago I mistakenly thought it would be a lot cooler than the deep south. Boy, was I wrong! Many times, we are having identical weather that Louisiana is experiencing.
I have embraced frugality in a brand new way. Though it should be out of pure necessity, I now look at it as a wonderful challenge and way to live on less and really enjoy it. I save all my empty jars and fill them with seeds for a garden I will one day begin. I look at everything as "how can I reuse this ?" and "do I need this?" and "will this be cluttering my home?". I also frequent garage sales, Habitat for Humanity, Goodwill, etc. We eat out less and I drive less. Driving less is the hardest since I love random road trips.
I am trying to keep busy any way I can. I am on a sick leave that is no longer paid and hoping to get back to work soon. I have been creating little felt birds and decorating jars and bottles and altoid tins and taking photos of everything and anything. I know I have to go back to work soon! I have enjoyed having the time to read and create and just take in the world around me. When you work constantly you sometimes miss the little details all around you. I know I did.
